ABOUT US

New Road Dental Practice was established in 1991.

We are committed to treating all members of the family in a friendly, caring, relaxed environment.

We promote the practice of preventive dentistry, and encourage regular attendance to help avoid dental disease. At your examination, we first check the health and general condition of your teeth, including a periodontal screen to identify any signs of gum disease and an oral screen to check the overall health of your mouth. We can then formulate a choice of treatment plans for you with appropriate preventive therapy.

We prioritise giving you enough time to listen and respond to your individual needs and concerns.

The inevitable time restrictions on NHS appointments therefore mean we have found it necessary to treat adults independently from the health service.

The practice does however have a small NHS contract to treat children free of charge on the NHS,

as well as a few long-standing existing exempt patients. We also see existing patients who are students and apprentices for the mandated NHS charges.  The Practice Partnership ( Helen Abel and Dominic Lundberg) hold the NHS contract and our dentists practice under an NHS performer number.

All our dental nurses are fully qualified, registered and an integral part of an established team. All our dentists and staff take regular part in Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

FAMILY PRACTICE

We aim to treat all age groups whatever their special needs may be.

However, if we are unable to treat you in our practice, we will refer you to someone who can, usually through

the community dental service.

We prioritise the treatment of children and their development of good dental habits for the future.

Two of our three surgeries are on the ground floor to aid disabled access.

PROTECTION

As a caring practice, we take all necessary precautions to safeguard both patients and staff against

blood- borne and other infections.

We follow best practice as recommended by HTM 01-05 for the sterilisation of instruments including the handpieces (the drill) and for the use of disposable items.

We have a dedicated Decontamination Room with equipment designed to both disinfect and sterilise instruments safely away from contact with patients. Once sterilised, we store instruments securely.

We routinely wear masks, gloves and face shields for every patient and use disposable bibs and cups.

We also offer safety glasses to every patient.

We undertake quality assurance of all practice procedures.

X-rays are necessary in the identification and diagnosis of dental disease.

We implement all the latest radiological safety guidelines.
